Carlos Rodriguez Suarez has been in the E&P industry for more than 30 years, always in close relation with all upstream chain (Exploration, Reservoir, Wells, Flow Assurance, and Facilities) as a Reservoir Characterization and Modeling Expert.
He worked in Petrobras for 26 years, spending two years on seismic acquisition and processing, followed by five years as Exploration Geoscientist and finally moving to Development and Production. He performed extensive work on exploration and exploitation on Brazilian Equatorial and Eastern (Campos basin) Margins. He was the first reservoir geophysicist in Petrobras, working in the most important fields in Brazil at that time: Marlim and Albacora Areas and Roncador, with net reserves above 3 Bboe.
In 2011, he was assigned Reservoir Characterization Manager of Petrobras International Area, overviewing activities related to daily production above 300 kboe and net proved reserves around 300 Mboe, mainly on Angola, Bolivia, Colombia, India, Nigeria (Agbami, Akpo, Egina), Peru (Block X), Tanzania and USA (Cascade/Chinook, Saint Malo). In 2011, he joined Queiroz Galvão as Reservoir Characterization and Geophysics Manager, being responsible for Manati, Atlanta and Carcará (BM-S-8) assets and Exploration blocks on Equatorial and Eastern Brazilian Margins. On 2014, he was assigned Technical and Production Manager at Repsol Sinopec Brasil, being in charge as Non-Operator of Sapinhoá, Albacora Leste, Lapa and BM-C-33 fields, with net 2P reserves around 300 Mboe and daily gross production close to 400 kboe.
He has a B.Sc. on Geology from Univ. Federal do Rio de Janeiro, M.Sc. on Applied Geophysics at Univ. Fed. da Bahia and Ph.D. on Exploration Seismology from The University of Calgary. He had been Assistant Professor of a top Brazilian University (PUC-RJ) and have participated as a presenter, reviewer, committee member, and session chair on AAPG, EAGE, IBP, SBGf, SEG, and SPE and is author or co-author of 75 journals and conferences papers.
