Frans is a consultant with a specialisation in field instrumentation for the process industry.
After a bachelor in electrical engineering and military service Frans started to work for Shell in a chemical facility in the Netherlands. In 1990 he was transferred to a refinery in Germany. After a re-instrumentation project of three years he relocated to the Sultanate of Oman, working for the national oil company PDO.
During these three postings Frans was involved in maintenance, turnaround management, specialist field support, trouble shooting and project engineering, all in the field of instrumentation.
In 2001 Frans returned back to the Netherlands, working for Shell Projects & Technology as a Principal Control and Automation engineer.
For 9 years Frans was involved in R&D on multiphase flow measurements, wireless instrumentation and setting up a secure data infrastructure in the process control domain.
Followed by 6 years as a subject matter expert of field instrumentation, control valves and actuators. Author of recent revisions of a number of Shell standards.
