Joke is a Senior Water (Governance) Expert. She has over 25 years experience. She has 12 years work experience as a government employee for the Netherlands Ministry of Environment and for a regional water board.
For the last 11 years she’s working as a consultant, advising authorities in the Netherlands and abroad (Cameroon, Egypt, Hungary, Jordan, Libya, Philippines, Romania, Tunisia) on the implementation of the environmental legislation.
Because of her experience, both as a consultant and a government employee with a Water Board and a Regional Inspectorate on Environmental Protection, she is in an outstanding position to advise water and environmental authorities and industries in the development and application of environmental legislation and regulation.
She has been much involved in the coordination of various environmental authorities. With her wide experience as a team leader and good organizational skills she can be an excellent project manager.
Joke has been involved in all environmental fields: water, waste, air, occupational health and safety. She gained experience in environmental auditing, environmental permit preparation, compliance auditing, monitoring, criminally and judicially enforcing permits and environmental levy systems.
She has a good insight in the compliance and pollution profiles of main polluter categories (industries, small enterprises, agriculture, households, municipalities).
The past 5 years, she has built capacity of environmental permit and enforcement units of water boards, both at organizational level (e.g. formulation of mid-term inspection and enforcement programs, new working procedures, management information systems, new organizational arrangements) and human resources level (e.g. staff development plans, coaching).
She is a pleasant person, capable to work with different cultures and in different settings and with her flexible approach creates commitment and reaches the needed results. In a short period of time she’s is capable of judging peoples’ talents and improvement of their leadership skills.
