Thivahar is an Independent Consultant based out of Chennai, India, advising clients on growth & operational strategies, investment opportunities, global operating models, go-to market plans, service delivery plans, project due-diligence and risk mitigation plans primarily in the Natural Gas/LNG sector as well as to new emerging start-ups. He has also been providing Expert advice to several global consulting firms, investment firms and research organizations on issues pertaining to Natural Gas/LNG sector.

Earlier, during his stint at Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), a Public-Sector Undertaking of the Government of India from May 2009 – April 2016, he was part of International Gas Sourcing (IGS) Team. He was instrumental in negotiating and executing various LNG Sales & Purchase Agreements, Liquefaction Tolling and Re-gasification Capacity Booking Agreements worth USD 100+ Billion. Apart from handling commercial activities and operations of large & diversified gas portfolio, he has been part of multiple committees involved in Formulation of GAIL’s overall Business Strategy; Setting up of International LNG Trading Desk; Formulation LNG Shipping entry Strategy; Standardization of Downstream Gas Sales Contracts; Development of E-Platform for Gas Trading; Development of Hedging Policy; Development of Social Media Strategy; Organizing prestigious Asia Gas Partnership Summits (AGPS); Development of Asian LNG Buyer’s Cooperation Forum etc.

He has made distinct contributions in developing a market-based National Domestic Gas Pricing Policy under the Rangarajan Committee. He also coordinated the preparation of the Knowledge Papers in the last two editions of AGPS with McKinsey & Company. He has also represented India/GAIL as member of the Commercial Study Group at GIIGNL (International Group of LNG Importers) from April 2015 to April 2016.

He is an alumnus of the renowned Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli.
