Vincent has been actively involved in the computerisation and digitisation wave that has occurred world-wide over the past decades. His career shows a gradual shift from pure (Civil Construction) Engineering through Information Technology (covering Operations, Application Development and IT Strategy Planning), to Enterprise Architecture and Business Process Management.
In Business Process Management, Vincent has worked for the past 13 years in a wide variety of business areas at Shell, most recently as a Senior Business Process Architect for the Projects and Technology division. Being an engineer at heart, his passion lies at the borderline between business and IT, and improving ways of working.
Vincent regards IT and business process management as a means-to-an-end: both are essential nowadays to ensure the business success of a corporation or organisation. Although this is generally acknowledged, senior managers often shy away from investing in enterprise- and process architecture, as the direct (financial) benefits seem not always easy to quantify. Vincent can advise management to stay in control over the quality of their services or products, using well documented and governed business processes, and fitting (IT) tools that enforce the desired quality and efficiency.
Vincent’s preference is to work in the Netherlands, in an international company, where business process management is backed by senior management as a key element of their vision for quality control. He likes to work in, or with, a small team, with close ties to both the IT department as well as business representatives. Vincent is a team player and a “bridge builder”, and is interested to lead or mentor younger colleagues in the team.
